You deserved it! Sauti Sol’s Bien tell Kenyans after Burna Boys' rant By Jeff platnezz
Sauti Sol lead singer Bien Aime Baraza believes Kenya can be a better country if citizens demanded for explanations and apologies from politicians like they recently did from Nigerian singer Burna Boy.
- Burna Boy during the weekend was a trending topic after netizens ganged up to force him into issuing an apology after he infamously described Kenyans as peasants. He refused and in turn, several media houses were forced to cancel his scheduled interviews.“If you demanded an apology this vehemently from political class, this would be a different country all together” wrote Bien on social media.
- Fans, however, descended on Bien accusing him of siding with the Nigerian singer betraying his country --worst of all, on Mashujaa Day.Bien eventually had to explain why he dragged politicians in the argument and clashed with State House Director of Brand Strategy and Events, Big Ted’s statement in which he had asked fans to boycott Burna Boy’s show unless he apologizes.
- “We don’t respect ourselves but we demand respect from others. We (Myself included) have brought this country and particularly our industry to its knees. I don’t endorse Burna Boy’s behavior.. But feel like we have bigger fish to fry” Said Bien.On Sunday however, Burn Boy ironically took to Twitter to thank Kenyans for turning up in huge numbers for his show."Just woke up and I still can’t believe how amazing last night was. Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone involved that made it possible. Also to NRG Radio, Thrift social and my brothers Sauti Sol and most especially by Kenyan fans,” he said.

Sauti Sol and Nyashinki release song hitting at Kenyan politics By Jeff platnezz.
Afro-pop band Sauti Sol has teamed up with rapper Nyashinski for a new song titled “Tujiangalie”, a social commentary meant to give Kenyans a rude awakening.
- The release comes after activists Boniface Mwangi prompted Sauti Sol to stop addressing impunity on social media alone and also do it a songs."Sauti Sol is here doing a political tweet. It’s the work of artists to use their art to speak truth to power. Good start. Now don’t stop! Sing about impunity too," Mwangi told them. And they did. Kenyans, loved their first attempt too.
“For our latest release we thought about the world right now and the number of persistent issues plaguing it,” said Sauti Sol when releasing the video.
“These things are hardly ever solved and we are consistently shortchanged. So we considered; how can we address these frustrations?
"None of us are perfect. None of us are exonerated. We have all contributed to and benefited from the flawed systems. But, change is a result of possibility. If we all decide to personally act towards building a world we are proud to live in, then it will become a reality. ”
It's the second collabo from Sauti Sol and Nyashinski this year after releasing Short and Sweet in May. Tujiangalie is the sixth single off their forthcoming LP, Afrikan Sauce.

I never dated in campus - Kush Tracy By Jeff Platnezz
I was a student at Kenyatta University after joining in 2012. I studied Bachelor of Arts - Theatre Arts and Film Technology for four years.
- The whole course was fun, and my favorite unit was acting. But I cannot say the same thing about video editing. I have never been a behind the scenes kinda person, and so video editing was not my cup of tea.Life in campus was fun, frustrating at some point and adventurous. I would hustle at times to make a few coins. I remember I used to do sales and marketing, more of hawking kitchen wear in different places for commission. On dating, I would say, I never dated in campus. I found relationships being too demanding and needing a lot of work. I was more focused on working on my music and building my brand. I think campus relationships are not for everyone. Some people just want to live life, explore and basically just have fun.
- To unwind, mostly during weekends, I used to hang out at the swimming pool with the swim team, or at the students annex or shopping Center. Otherwise I spent time in the studio when not in school. Some of my unforgettable classmates in campus included Sleepy David, and he is funny.I am however yet to graduate having differed my classes to focus on my music. Interestingly, I am not planning to go back to study theatre. I want to take a different direction, possibly mass communication and entrepreneurship.Kenya’s female rapper, Teresia Ndoti famously known as Kush Tracy who is the ‘Huwezi Ni Dandia’ hit maker tells us about her campus years.
